Create. Discover. Connect. Share.

In April 2012, Phillip Roffman began Subculture with the idea of bringing out the best in communities. Today, Subculture has expanded into a company that builds entertainment, small businesses, and culture within the community.

We produce significant events that spotlight the community and contribute to its unique local culture. With hundreds of visitors across city and county lines, our events exhibit businesses, art, and causes that members of the community can discover, support, and enjoy.

Through our events, Subculture…

Consults with local and small businesses, vendors, and artists of all types to promote their work and growth within the community.
Creates and coordinates partnerships among local businesses, artists, and organizations to ensure their stability and success.
Brings a variety of entertainment and causes to suburban communities that often lack what most metropolitan areas experience.

The Team

Phillip Roffman, Founder & CEO

A Florida native and pop culture enthusiast, Phillip believes in his community and the concept of discovery. Whether he is discovering new and exciting music as a staff writer for Consequence of Sound or bringing culture and communities together as Subculture’s CEO–– he has a lot to say… but even more to do.

Phillip’s favorite quote: “The human spirit, when it’s allowed to become made manifest through art, invariably is going to create greatness.” – Moby

Richard Vergez, Designer

In a few years, the Subculture “S” will be as recognizable as the Nike swoosh.

Richard’s favorite quote: “There is no such thing as an empty space or an empty time. There is always something to see, something to hear. In fact, try as we may to make a silence, we cannot.” ― John Cage

Summer Dunsmore, Photojournalist and Videographer for Subvert Media

Summer produces documentary videos on musicians, artists, and activists, and publishes the ”Film Roll” photo series for Subvert Media.

Summer began her career as a photojournalist and columnist for The Daily Californian, a student-run newspaper based in Berkeley, California. In July 2011 she joined the ranks of Consequence of Sound as an Intern, and worked her way up to Staff Writer and Photographer positions. Her portfolio includes photographs from 14 different countries around the world, and she has covered such West Coast festivals as Coachella, Treasure Island, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, FYF Fest, and Outside Lands.

Summer’s favorite quote: “Gentlemen! You can’t fight in here – this is the war room!” – Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Katie Lewis, Communications Director

Growing up in tight-knit town of Wilton Manors, FL, Katie has always gravitated around all things local. She received a B.A. in English from Florida State University while gaining experience in public relations and marketing. As Communications Director for Subculture, Katie leads the media relations and social media efforts, making sure all channels of communication are focused on the community.

Katie’s favorite quote: “People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.” – George Bernard Shaw

Kathy Paz, Editor-in-Chief of Constant Culture

In a world where musicians, artists, and entertainers are the universal authors, Kathy wants to be the one who tells the storytellers’ stories. As 23-year-old aspiring music and entertainment journalist and photographer, Subculture is her weapon of choice to pen the pages of the epic novel that is the ever-evolving world of pop culture. And as you should know, “the pen is mightier than the sword.”

Kathy’s favorite quote: “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.” – John Keating, Dead Poets Society

Kristin Frenzel, Art and Merchandise Lead

Born and raised in South Florida, Kristin has always had a soft spot for the culture and arts that surrounded her and her community. Wanting to nurture and promote local arts she has broken from the day to day humdrum of “traditional” jobs and now focuses her time on her pop culture art, helping the art community, and growing her (and Jon West’s) budding business. Being a small business owner helps give her the tools and knowledge to help other people in the community to take the same path.

Kristin’s favorite quote: “Art is anything you can get away with.” – Andy Warhol/Marshall McLuhan

Kaela-Renee Chancey, Creative Director

She is a walking trend — whether it’s her bold taste in fashion or her creative mindset, her wide social media following speaks for itself. While she spends most of her time drinking tea between breaks, Kaela never loses sight of how important her relationship with her community is. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, this young native doesn’t let her unique eye go unseen.

Kaela’s favorite quote: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” -T.S. Eliot

Sergio Roy Pantoja, Chief Technology Officer

Aside from taking care of two Indonesian tree frogs and a bearded dragon at home, Sergio is responsible for developing and maintaining Subculture’s internet technologies. He builds powerful web applications for local businesses, manages websites, and creates beautiful designs that strengthen brands. If you have any comments about the website or want to contact Sergio, you can email him at

Sergio’s favorite quote: “The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” – Bill Gates
